Swoop adding more flights from London to sunny destinations

The list of direct flights from London to winter vacation spots is growing as the London International Airport continues to bounce back from the pandemic.

Low-cost airline Swoop announced Wednesday it is adding non-stop service from London to Orlando, Florida and Cancun, Mexico this winter.

“The London International Airport and Swoop saw strong growth through 2019 and the first quarter of 2020 prior to the pandemic restrictions. It is amazing to have Swoop back offering these incredible destinations at low rates from your local easy and comfortable airport,” Scott McFadzean, president and CEO of the airport, said in a statement.

Flights to both destinations will go twice weekly beginning the first week of December and continue into April.

“Swoop is excited to further our partnership with London International Airport with new non-stop flights to popular sun and fun destinations,” said Bert van der Stege, head of commercial and finance at Swoop. “We know residents of London value connectivity from their home airport, and so we’re proud to offer more ultra-low fare options for sun getaways.”

Swoop also announced it is extending direct service between London and Edmonton until January 8. Swoop has been operating flights between the two cities three times a week since June.

Last week, Sunwing and Air Transat released their winter schedules with weekly direct flights from London to Cancun, Punta Cana, and Varadero starting in December. Ultra-low fare airline Flair announced in June it will be offering weekly flights from London to Tucson, Arizona this winter.
