Minto inviting everyone to come celebrate their local downtowns in September

Residents and people from the surrounding area are being encouraged to come celebrate the local downtowns in Minto next month.

A release from The Town of Minto says they, alongside the local downtown revitalization committees, Harriston Rising, All Aboard Palmerston, and Clifford Connects, are inviting people to come and celebrate and enjoy the downtowns in those communities with events on Tuesday, September 27th from 6 until 8 p.m. The event will be hosted at the Harriston-Minto Community Centre with a special presentation by Your Town Rising founders, Leslie Fournier and Gregg McLachlan.

To attend, you can register on Eventbrite or call 519-338-2511 ext. 241. For more information, visit http://town.minto.on.ca/events.

“We’re delighted to be back in Minto to see and hear all of the wonderful initiatives that the communities have put in place over the past few years,” says Fournier and McLachlan, “Lets get citizens working together to make Minto a must visit destination
in the coming seasons and beyond!”

Fournier and McLachlan launched an initiative in 2019 to inspire the communities in Minto to help revitalize the local downtowns. The release from The Town of Minto states that “their visit provided insight on different improvements that could be made to local streetscapes, public spaces, businesses, and cultural assets, and culminated in a special presentation attended by the public to kick-start new ideas to promote tourism and local initiatives in Minto.”

Minto was successful in securing Rural Economic Development (RED) funding towards Minto’s Downtown Rising projects through OMAFRA and the Province of Ontario in 2020. The funding has been used to erect murals, upgrades to town signage, pole wraps and way-finding signage, street furniture, new lights in Tannery Park and Palmerston Lions Park, downtown speakers and many other projects, as well.
