Two Bruce County paramedics recognized for bravery

Bruce County Paramedics Jim Ainslie and Justin Boucher received Citations for Bravery from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in a ceremony on Wednesday, June 22.

Ainslie and Boucher were honoured for their actions in a rescue effort at the Kincardine Pier in September of 2020.

“While Bruce County paramedics are highly trained for all types of emergency response, Paramedics Jim Ainslie and Justin Boucher performed extraordinary actions by joining the human chain entering rough waters to make a rescue attempt of individuals swept into the lake by treacherous waves,” said Paramedic Services Chief Steve Schaus.

“We are thankful to have Paramedics like them serving our communities and it is a true honour for them to be recognized by our OPP partners,” Schaus added.

Constable Ed Brunk, Coast Guard Auxiliaries James Cooper and Keith Filby, and members of the public Bernhard Thimian, Michael Walsh, Robert McKitterick, and David Jenkins were also recognized for their participation in the rescue effort.
