The Windmill Lake and Eco Park near Bayfield has found a new home.
Central Huron Mayor, Jim Ginn, says council has approved a three-year temporary zoning for the new location on Telephone Road in Central Huron. The issue is that the location is next to Teeswater Concrete and the two operations will share the same pond. Ginn says with planning, the existing business usually gets preference, so the new business has to prove that its business is compatible with the existing business.
“We approved a three-year temporary zoning for it, so they’ll be free to operate for the next three years and they’ll be operating on hours outside of Teeswater Concrete hours and once the studies are done, as long as they show that there should be no compatibility issues, then they’ll be able to operate in un-restricted hours.”
Ginn adds, there are a number of studies that are still required.
“So there are a number of studies that are required, but council just felt that, because of the seasonal nature of a wake park, that it was important to approve it in advance. So they’ll be operating on hours outside of the outside of the hours of Teeswater Concrete until those studies are complete.”
The hope, Ginn adds, is that the new Eco Park can be up and running by the middle of June.
