Stormy weather blowing into southwestern Ontario

Strong wind and rain are in the forecast for the next 24 hours in southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, and London-Middlesex.

Forecasters are calling for isolated wind gusts and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and into the evening hours.

“While the thunderstorms are not expected to be particularly strong, isolated wind gusts up to 70 or 80 km/h will be possible,” the weather agency said.

Local power outages may occur as well as some damage to tree branches.
