North Perth has made their 2022 budget official with a 2.3 percent levy increase on property tax for the year.
In a release on March 8th, the municipality states the budget “addresses the need to support important municipal services, meet the service expectations of our citizens, and invest in current and future infrastructure and asset needs, while limiting tax increases during a time when many of our ratepayers are facing the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.” After combining property taxes, county taxes and local school board taxes, the overall levy increase will be 5.8 percent in North Perth.
The 2.3 percent increase represents roughly 20 cents a day for ratepayers. The municipality also notes that depending on the size of garbage wheelie bins, ratepayers may see anywhere from a 2 to 5 dollar increase for their 2022 user fee for that service.
New projects planned for 2022 in North Perth include:
- Water Meter Replacement
- Binning Street Area Master Plan
- Davidson Ave. N. Bridge Replacement
- Asphalt Resurfacing
- Monkton Ball Park Lighting Upgrades
- Listowel Memorial Pavilion Upgrades
