Local Humane Society looking for owner of injured dog

The Humane Society of Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford-Perth is urgently appealing for donations to help a dog hit by a car.

In a release, officials say the dog was found by a community member in Perth East last week.

Animal Services officers were called and found the dog was severely injured. It was rushed to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Cambridge where the dog was stabilized and given pain medication.

No one has come forward to claim the dog — now named Jayce — so it is now under the medical care of the Humane Society. The veterinarians say the injuries to his back leg are too severe and it will be amputated this morning.

The cost of the surgery is expected to exceed $7,000.

Anyone wishing to donate to Jayce’s care is asked to urgently do so through the Humane Society’s website.
