Freezing rain warning in Bruce county

Environment Canada has put a freezing rain warning into effect for Bruce county.

“Snow is expected to develop tonight and change over to freezing rain or ice pellets by Tuesday morning. Freezing rain, occasionally mixed with ice pellets, is expected to continue through to Tuesday night,” the weather agency said in a statement.

The exact amounts of rain, snow, and ice aren’t clear, but Environment Canada said that the accumulation of ice could be significant.

“Difficult travel conditions and power outages are possible,” the statement read.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to watch for slippery surfaces and to “beware of branches or electrical wires that could break under the weight of ice.”
