The man in charge of London’s water system has been promoted to a new role.
London city council approved the appointment of Scott Mathers as the new deputy city manager in charge of planning and economic development Tuesday night.
Mathers has served as the city’s director of water, wastewater and stormwater since 2017. Prior to that he was a manager in development services and a manager of development finance. He first joined the city as an environmental services engineer in 2005 before temporarily leaving for a post within another municipality four years later. He returned to London in 2013.
“Throughout his career with the city, Mathers has earned a reputation for fairness, problem-solving and his ability to build consensus among disparate groups,” city officials said in a statement.
Matthews takes over the deputy city manager role from George Kotsifas, who is slated to retire early next month.
