Messy weather takes aim at Midwestern Ontario

Special Weather Statement in effect for Midwestern Ontario excluding Northern Bruce.

A messy mix of weather will begin as heavy rain late Wednesday, before turning to freezing rain, then heavy snow before Friday.

The region could see 10 to 25 mm of rain Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday overnight. There is also the risk of freezing rain Wednesday overnight through Thursday afternoon. Then snow, at times heavy, will begin Wednesday overnight through Friday morning. Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm are possible.

A low pressure system from the Northeast could cause road closures. As temperatures drop below the freezing mark Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, icy and slippery conditions are possible, as water on roadways and surfaces will freeze. That could be followed by reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow as precipitation transitions to snow Wednesday overnight.
