Careless cooking is being blamed for an apartment fire in downtown London.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at 186 King Street around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
When crews arrived heavy black smoke was coming from a fourth floor unit. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and ventilated smoke out of the building.
No injuries were reported.
The multi-storey building is mixed-use with commercial tenants, including the Regional HIV/AIDS Connection and Carepoint overdose prevention facility, on the ground floor and apartments on the upper levels.
It was determined Thursday’s fire was caused by an item left on the stove.
Damage was minimal, according to fire officials.
