JOAN ZOPPI
Joan Margaret “Joanie” Zoppi (née Barrett) of Kincardine passed away at Trillium Court in Kincardine on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, in her 95th year.
Born in Birmingham, England on Oct. 20, 1928 to the late James and Agnes (née Mayall) Barrett, and immigrating to Canada in 1957. Joan is the last survivor of a group of four who immigrated together.
Beloved wife of William “Bill” Zoppi, whom she married on July 19, 1958.
Joan is survived by her son John (Shari) Zoppi of Glammis, brother in-law Peter Zoppi of Walkerton, brother John Barrett of Birmingham, UK and sister in-law Heather Barrett of Bournemouth, UK.
Fondly remembered by niece Melanie Barret, nephews Mark and Peter Barrett, all of Bournemouth, as well as numerous Zoppi relatives.
Predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law, brother Dennis Barrett and sisters-in-law Francis Thibaudeau, Jenny Zoppi and Leslie Barrett.
Joan considered Kincardine her home and was active in the community for many years – bowling, darts and as a Legion volunteer. She had a large circle of friends, with special mention to Jillian and Keith Colley, Robert and Tryntje Grey, Monica Slack and Janice and Tim Schutz of Durham. She will be greatly missed by many.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch #183, Kincardine on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto or Huron Shores Hospice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
