SHIRLEY FAIR
Shirley Margaret Jean Fair (née Clark) of Kincardine passed away at Brightshores Health Systems in Owen Sound, on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, in her 93rd year.
Beloved wife of the late Harold Fair (1998).
Survived by her children: Mike (Becky) Fair, Dave (Val) Fair, Pauline (Gary) Somogyi, Ken (Julie) Fair, Donald (Karen) Fair, Ann Bell and Joan McLaughlin.
Missed by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Fondly remembered by her siblings: Helen Fischer, Joan (Gib) Jorden, Donald (Judy) Clark, amd by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Raymond and Annabelle (née MacKinnon) Clark, brothers Harvey (Irene) Clark, Doug Clark and Gerald Clark, sisters Catherine Dietrich, Peggy (Borden) Litt and Sandra (Bruce) Sawyer, brother-in-law Ron Fischer, and dear friend Charlie Murch.
Shirley was a graduate of the Georgian College Homecare Program and worked in the Homecare field for many years.
Shirley’s pride and joy were her family. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was strong, witty, sharp, independent and spirited. She could often be found in her family’s kitchens – baking pies, cookies and passing along her baking trade secrets to her grandchildren. She loved to sew and quilt and was kept busy making quilts for her family.
Her love of sports was demonstrated by the many hockey, football, basketball, and soccer games she attended over the years, cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley was recently spotted at both Tiverton and Kincardine arenas in November and December of 2023. Shirley was a true Toronto Sports Fan; family meals were scheduled around the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, the Blue Jay’s and the Raptors games, if they were playing. She was an avid curler, golfer, swimmer and bowler in her earlier years.
Shirley was a proud member of the Kincardine United Church. In her later years, her children Ken, Pauline, Mike and their spouses and even their friends would make sure she got to church every Sunday.
Shirley was a proud volunteer and understood the importance of community involvement. Over the years, she was a member of the Kincardine Community Singers, the Merry Kin, Hilltop Rebekah Lodge, Minor Hockey, a 4-H Leader, as well as the Kincardine United Church quilting groups – to name a few. Shirley loved to play cards, and right up to her final days, she attended cards at the Davidson Centre. She rarely missed a Tuesday or Thursday and enjoyed her card playing community of friends. Shirley loved to travel to visit family in Phoenix, and B.C. or just to see the world. She attended the Saturday night pipe band regularly and it brought her great joy.
A private funeral service will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine.
