Obituary – Ken Elston

KEN ELSTON

Kenneth “Ken” Edgar Elston, of Kincardine, passed away at Huron Shore Hospice on Jan. 1, 2022, in his 96th year.
Predeceased by his wife Marguerite “Margot” Elston (2018) and son Roderick “Rod” Elston (2013).
Loving father of Duncan (Sandra) Elston of Kincardine, Blair (Deborah) Elston of Chatham, and Jacqueline (Chris) Candlish of Kincardine. Proud grandfather of Tony (Mia), Susan (Ben), Megan (Keith), Morgan, Joel (Rupi) and Lauren (Matt); great-grandchildren Noel, Brittany, Freeman, Saoirse, Evelyn, Briar, Sloane and Gabriel; and great-great grandchildren Ryker and Tara.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Malcolm Place, Kincardine hospital and Huron Shores Hospice for their kind attention and care of our father.
He was born in North Bay on Nov. 16, 1926, to Reginald Edgar Elston and Alice Nicholson. Ken was a pioneer in the Canadian nuclear industry. He was involved in the design and commissioning of Bruce A and Bruce B and was the manager of the Bruce Nuclear Power Development. After retiring in 1989, Ken and Margot enjoyed extensive travel throughout Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
Ken was a strong community advocate and volunteered on the boards of the Kincardine Hospital, the Kincardine Police, Kerry’s Place and PRANCE.
A memorial service to honour Ken’s life will be held at the Anglican Church of the Messiah in Kincardine at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday April 30, 2022. Anyone attending the memorial service must wear a mask.
Donations to Kerry’s Place Autism Services, Church of the Messiah or Huron Shores Hospice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
