Pedestrian hit by train on Maitland Street

A pedestrian has been hit by a train near downtown London.

Emergency crews were called to the rail crossing on Maitland Street south of York Street where the pedestrian was struck by a CN train just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

London police have yet to release any information about the severity of any injuries.

The rail crossing lights and arms were activated at the time of the collision. However, thick fog that prompted a fog advisory from Environment Canada was creating visibility issues across the region.

The serious incident has multiple rail crossings in the area blocked as the train involved is stopped on the tracks.
