RONALD GORDON

Ronald Clayton Gordon of Kincardine died unexpectedly at South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Kincardine, on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at age 77.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Ruth Gordon (née Kuntz).
Loving father of Wendy (Gary) Knorr, Jeffrey (Donna) Gordon and Cindy (James) Bolen.
Sadly missed by his grandchildren: Shae Robbins, Mataya Gordon, Nicholas Gordon, Olivia Gordon, Kyle Bolen, Paige Bolen, Cody Bolen and Shantel Knorr.
Dear brother of Sherry (Terry) Kinch, Paul Gordon and Randy (Janice) Gordon.
Fondly remembered by in-laws: Harvey (Dianne) Kuntz, Linus Kuntz, Bert (Pat) Kuntz, Joe Kuntz, Helen (Don) Meyer, Jim (Marlene) Kuntz, Carol Dietrich and Dorothy Kuntz, and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbours and former co-workers.
Predeceased by his parents Clayton and Rita (née Bowes) Gordon, father and mother-in-law Jerome and Vera Kuntz, sisters-in-law Victoria Gordon, Angela Kuntz and Elaine Kuntz and brothers-in-law Hal Dietrich and Lloyd Kuntz.
Ron was an inspiration and role model to his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and loving papa. Friends and family always felt welcome in his home. His greatest legacy is selfless love and commitment to his family.
Ron was a hockey fan, as a coach and convenor, and a support to his children’s and grandchildren’s sports activities, including gymnastics, horseback riding and hockey. He was one of three committee members who successfully campaigned to bring International Silver Stick Hockey to Kincardine in 1987.
Born in Peterborough, Ron grew up in Perth, Ontario and attended school at St. John’s Catholic School and Perth Collegiate. He reminisced numerous times of having three paper routes as a young boy and having to walk to the Perth train station to pick up the papers before school.
Ron worked as a Stationary Engineer for Ontario Hydro and OPG, beginning his career at Hearn Generating Station in Toronto then Nanticoke Generating Station and settling at Bruce Power Steam Plant, OPG, retiring in 2001.
Once retired, Ron pursued an interest in woodworking, developing a real talent to create beautiful pieces of furniture enjoyed by family and friends. He made a rocking horse, baby crib, side tables, desk, dresser, jewellery boxes for his granddaughters, horse jumps and so much more.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023 at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine, where the memorial service to honour Ron’s life was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.
Memorial donations to Huron Shores Hospice or the Kincardine Food Bank appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
