Outdoor recreation part of tourism in Huron County during pandemic

Huron County’s Tourism Development Officer unveiled a new tourism brochure.

Rick Sickinger says the haven’t printed a brochure for the last two years because of the pandemic.

Sickinger says one of the thing they really noticed during the pandemic was the number of people were looking for outdoor recreational opportunities.

“Of course, Huron County is well-placed for that trend, between our trails, golf courses, the beaches, paddling, canoeing, fishing, we are really well-placed in terms of an outdoor activity destination,” said Sickinger.

“We also saw people wanting to go to a smaller, quieter, maybe, less discovered destinations as well and i certainly don’t think we’ve been hiding under a rock or could be classified as un-discovered, but, for many people, we’re still a relatively new destination.”

Huron County’s food and beverage industries also continue to attract more visitors every year and he says people are still anxious to make a connection of where their food comes from and have that farm to fork experience.
