The Township of Georgian Bluffs is actively promoting load security to people transporting products in cars and trailers in an effort to take a proactive approach to traffic safety.

Keeping loads secure will lessen the possibility of problems on highways due to debris coming off trailers or truck beds.

Motorists should take the proper steps to secure cargo being transported in and around Georgian Bluffs. Drivers are asked to remember loads that aren’t adequately secured or aren’t secured at all present a serious risk to other road users and can lead to mishaps, damage to property and injuries.

Motorists are being urged to make sure all loads, including compost, waste, and recycling materials, are appropriately secured with a tarp and tied down, which significantly reduces the risk of debris falling onto the roadway. Drivers should inspect the load before heading out, ensuring all of the tie-downs and fasteners are tight and in good condition.

The regulations are actively enforced by the OPP and Ministry of Transportation MTO and violations can be accompanied by hefty fines.
