Musical Ride coming to Owen Sound

Owen Sound City Council has given approval to the Owen Sound Rotary Club to use the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre for a 2023 RCMP Musical Ride Show.

The goal of the event is to fundraise in support of planned kitchen renovations at Presqu’ile Rotary YMCA Camp. The existing kitchen was built when the camp opened 90 years ago.

The 2023 RCMP Musical Ride Show is expected to take place September 9 and 10.

The approval comes with several conditions related to the logistics of putting on the event, such as a barn for the horses’ overnight stay, and proper flooring for the horses to perform.

It will take multiple partnerships and support from community organizations, volunteers, and city staff to ensure the event goes smoothly.

This year marks the 150th Anniversary of the RCMP Musical Ride. Shows are tentatively scheduled across Canada, including Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, central Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia.
