More than 40 weapons seized from Norfolk County home

A nearly two month weapons investigation by Norfolk OPP has ended with charges being laid against a 70-year-old man.

Officers with the Norfolk-Haldimand Community Street Crime Unit launched the investigation in February. It led police to search a home in Townsend this week. More than 40 weapons, including handguns, rifles, a crossbow, and ammunition was seized.

A 70-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with two counts of careless storage of a firearm and six counts of failing to report a lost firearm or weapon.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges at a later date, police said.
