Company recalls Sunbeam queen-sized heated blankets

If you have a queen-sized Sunbeam heated blanket at home, don’t use it. There’s a chance it could catch fire.

Star Elite is recalling those blankets and offering a full refund.

The affected product has a model number of 32810027. The model number and Sunbeam’s logo are on the wash label.

It comes with a detachable controller and was sold in the colours ivory, light green, beige, light blue, dark blue, burgundy, dark grey, light grey, and grey violent.

The company said the blanket could overheat, possibly burning the user or starting a fire.

Star Elite said no one was hurt, but seven incidents were reported in Canada and 13 in the U.S.

Consumers can register for a full refund on the company’s website or call Star Elite at 877-383-6399 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.

They should destroy the blanket by cutting the power cord and marking the wash label with an “X” in permanent marker.
