Procession planned for slain officer

A procession is planned for Friday for OPP Constable Greg Pierzchala, who was shot and killed in the line of duty.

The 28-year-old had found out earlier in the day Tuesday he had passed his probation when he was gunned down while responding to a vehicle in a ditch near Hagersville.

The procession will depart from the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto at 9 a.m. and travel northbound on Highway 400 to Barrie.

In a statement released Thursday, provincial police invited the public to join first responders in paying their respects from one of the many overpasses along the highway. Drivers are urged not to stop on the highway as it is a safety risk.
