Former Woodstock physician dealt more child pornography charges

A former family physician who worked in Woodstock faces additional child pornography-related charges.

Woodstock police announced Friday evening that on November 30, 58-year-old Robert Stern was charged with six more offences, including making child pornography, possession of child pornography, three counts of voyeurism and recording someone for a sexual purpose.

Stern was subject of a nation-wide warrant earlier this year relating to a child pornography sting after police seized a number of electronic devices during a search at a property in Woodstock in early July. Stern was located and arrested by police several weeks later. At the time, he was charged with distributing child pornography, possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.

Stern’s family medicine career began in Woodstock in 1991. He retained privileges at Woodstock hospital until 2014. Stern also once served as the president of the Oxford County medical society. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario has since confirmed that Stern is no longer practicing medicine.

Police say Stern is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call the Woodstock Police Service at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
