Arrest made and charges laid following two local break-in thefts

Police have arrested and charged one person following a pair of break-in thefts recently in Goderich.

On November 5 at 10:49 p.m., a business on Huron Road in Goderich was broken into. Huron County OPP officers say they found a smashed main entrance glass door and discovered that cigarettes, cigars, drinks and candy had been stolen from the business. A 46-year-old of no fixed address was arrested and charged on November 6th and released from custody the same day with a court appearance scheduled at a later date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.

Later on November 6 at 11:50 p.m., a second business was broken into, this time on Bayfield Road in Goderich.

Police arrived and say they once again found the main entrance glass door had been smashed and that cigarettes, drinks, candy, and a wireless speaker had been stolen from the business. Video surveillance led officers to believe the suspect was the same one accused in the first break-and-enter.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is currently in custody following his second arrest, which now includes charges for drug possession.
