Stretch of Richmond St. to be closed Wednesday for filming

Londoners will have to navigate another road closure in the downtown on Wednesday, but unlike the many other closures detouring drivers this one isn’t construction related.

Richmond Street between Dundas and King streets will be shut down for the day to allow for filming of an Apple TV production. The closure applies to cyclists and pedestrians, in addition to motorists.

The stretch of Richmond will be transformed to look like 1970s era New York City. While the City of London has not confirmed what production is being shot in the downtown, there have been reports it is Improbable Valentine, a series based on the Victor LaValle bestselling novel The Changeling.

The busy downtown street is expected to reopen on Thursday morning. However, east and westbound curb lanes will continue to be restricted until Friday.

“Londoners travelling in the area should expect travel delays and are encouraged to use Clarence Street, York Street, Dufferin Street or Talbot Street as alternative routes,” city officials said.

Signage has been erected to direct road users around the closure.
