South Bruce OPP release Canada Road Safety Week results

The South Bruce OPP have released the results of their Canada Road Safety Week, which ran from June 25th until July 3rd.

Police were paying attention to the “Big 4” road safety issues during the safety blitz, which are Impaired Driving, Distracted Driving, Aggressive Driving and Failure to wear a Seatbelt. South Bruce OPP laid 216 charges during the weeklong initiative including 178 speeding charges, 2 stunt driving charges and 2 charges for failing to wear a seatbelt. In addition, two drivers were charged with Impaired Driving.

During the campaign, the South Bruce OPP investigated 29 motor vehicle collisions, with no injuries reported at any of the scenes.

“These results clearly show us that too many drivers are taking chances with road safety. The safety initiative has ended, but the South Bruce OPP remain committed to road safety all year long. Motorists on Southern Bruce County roads can expect to see our officers stopping drivers that are risking your safety” says Sgt. Ryan Olmstead, Detachment Manager, South Bruce OPP.
