Fire at east London apartment sends one to hospital
Paramedics took an individual to hospital after a fire broke out at a triplex in east London.
Sometime before 6 p.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to a residential building on Thiel Street, near the area of Dundas and Saskatoon streets.
Heavy smoke and flames were seen pluming from the third floor of the building by the time crews arrived. The fire was out before 7 p.m., allowing firefighters to investigate and overhaul the scene while the home was ventilated.
London fire officials say one person was assessed by paramedics on scene. They were later taken to hospital for additional treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been specified.
The Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted to assist with the investigation. The cause and a damage estimate has yet to be determined.
