Assault rifle, $25K in fentanyl seized in south London bust

A 49-year-old London man is facing drug and weapons charges after police seized two guns and more than $29,000 worth of fentanyl, meth, and cocaine from a home in the south end of the city.

Officers with the London police guns and gangs section and the K9 and emergency response units searched a home on Exeter Road on Thursday. They turned up 103 grams of fentanyl, 21 grams of methamphetamine, nine grams of cocaine, and three grams of crack cocaine. The drugs are valued at an estimated $29,050.

Also seized during the search was an SKS assault rifle, a Winchester 12 gauge shotgun, ammunition, a cellphone taser, two digital scales, and $775 cash.

A London man, 49, is charged with ten offences including possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm without a licence, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, and careless storage of ammunition.

The accused is scheduled to appear in London court on Friday.
