11 new COVID-19 cases in London, Middlesex

The Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting 11 new infections Sunday, down eight cases from the previous day.

The number of active cases in the community, as of Sunday, is 136. No new deaths were reported. There hasn’t been a death in the area since October 21, leaving the death toll unchanged at 245.

As of Friday, The London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) reported six COVID-19 inpatients in its care.

Of those, five or fewer are listed in intensive care and none are admitted to Children’s Hospital. Currently, there is seven hospital staff who have tested positive for the virus.

There are four active outbreaks at schools in the London area. They are at Wilberforce Public School, Clara Benton Public School, St. Nicholas Senior Catholic School, and Covenant Christian School. All schools remain open.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit for Elgin and Oxford counties, reported nine new cases Friday. It says there are a total of 79 active cases in the two counties.

Across the province,  340 new cases were reported Sunday, along with two additional deaths. There are 104 people with COVID-19 in Ontario hospitals and 133 people in an ICU due to COVID-19
