19 new COVID-19 cases in London, Middlesex
The number of new COVID-19 cases in the London region continues to fluctuate in the double-digit range.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting 19 new infections, Sunday, up eight cases from the previous day.
No new deaths were reported Sunday. The number of active cases in the community, as of Sunday, is 127.
On Saturday, new cases of the virus were detected at Clara Brenton Public School and Harrisfield Public School. There are currently two active cases at each school.
An outbreak has also been declared at Harrisfield. One other outbreak at Our Lady of the Pillar Academy in Strathroy remains active with six confirmed cases of the virus.
As of Friday, officials at the London Health Sciences Centre were treating six patients with COVID-19. Five or fewer of those patients are listed in intensive care and five or fewer are in the care of Children’s Hospital.
There are currently five or fewer hospital employees who have tested positive for the virus.
Southwestern Public Health, the health unit for Elgin and Oxford counties, reported 19 new cases Friday, increasing its total case count since the start of the pandemic to 4,569. The death toll was unchanged at 90 with no additional deaths recorded. The number of resolved cases rose to 4,397.
There are now 82 active cases in the two counties.
Provincially, there were 370 new cases reported Sunday, along with one additional death. There are 138 people with COVID in Ontario hospitals, 137 of whom are in intensive care.
