WALTER LENIO

Walter Lenio, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully, with family members by his side – both virtually and in person, on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, during his 64th year, after a long battle with chronic leukemia.
Walter was born in Midland, Ontario as one of seven children.
He was predeceased by both his parents and his brothers Michael and George.
He leaves behind his siblings John, Rose, Susan and Andy, his two sisters-in-law Mary Anne and Elaine, and his brother-in-law Perry.
Walter was a fun and generous Uncle to his many nieces and nephews, and had numerous cousins back “home”. Walter will be missed by his long-time friend Mika Sokka of Tiverton and spoke fondly of “Preacher” Dave.
Walter graduated from two diploma programs through Georgian College, including the completion of a three-year Electrical Engineering Technician diploma and one in Electrical Engineering Technology. Walter had a long working career at the Bruce Nuclear Power Plant as a Nuclear Operator, before choosing to take early retirement.

He loved the outdoors. He spent his days fishing on Lake Huron and on the many smaller lakes, rivers and streams in the area. Walter enjoyed biking, cross-country skiing, listening to music, sitting around a fire in his backyard and tinkering with his many electrical and battery-operated gadgets. He loved tennis, as well as playing cards, chess, and Scrabble. When he watched television, he liked the old comedy shows.
Walter’s sense of humour and his ability to make people laugh – regardless of the situation – will be greatly missed. He will be fondly remembered as the uncle that “blew up” watermelons and pumpkins and could “MacGyver” anything.
Walter’s family would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Murray, all the staff at South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Kincardine as well as to Dr. Soong. In addition, they extend a heartfelt thank you to Mika and his wife Trish for being there for Walter during his last difficult days on earth.
Cremation has taken place, with plans for a Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kincardine Hospital Foundation, arrangements for a memorial tree to sustain the wildlife he loved to watch, or a donation to any charity of your choice would be appreciated.
