The co-chair of the Lamont Sports Park fundraising committee was named Senior of the Year in Saugeen Shores.

Rob Stanley was presented with a certificate by MPP Lisa Thompson and Mayor Luke Charbonneau at council on June 12.

Mayor Charbonneau says Stanley was crucial in raising funds that well exceeded their $1 million goal for Phase 2 of the park’s Illuminating Dreams Campaign.

“He made over 50 verbal and in-person presentations to potential donors and attended planning meetings for a period of 12 months, successfully soliciting hundreds of thousands dollars towards the campaign,” said Charbonneau. “Mr. Stanley prepared presentations, wrote dozens of letters of solicitation and on a daily basis, searched out new potential donors. He went far beyond the call of duty as a volunteer and it’s fair to say that in serving as co-chair for the Lamont Sports Park fundraising campaign, that work consumed the majority of his free time for the year 2022, probably all of his free time.”

The Lamont Sports Park will have its official Opening Ceremony on Saturday, June 24.
