Homicide investigation launched in Collingwood

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are conducting a homicide investigation after a disturbance on the east side of Collingwood Friday night.

Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP responded to an incident on Matthew Way around 10:45 p.m. In their initial statement, police were tight-lipped on the events leading up to the emergency response.

The Collingwood OPP Crime Unit is probing the incident under the Criminal Investigation Branch’s direction. The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit are also involved in the effort.

“More information will be provided as it becomes available,” OPP concluded in their Saturday statement.

All who live in the area of Matthew Way are being asked to check for any potential video evidence from devices at their homes.
