Huron County councillors have approved a budget for 2023.
Warden Glen McNeil says they had a special budget session last week.
“So we agreed to a modest levy increase of 8.78 per cent and for the median residential property value it would be a difference of $64.50 a year,” McNeil shared.
McNeil says they did have to use some reserves to arrive at the 8.78 per cent figure.
“We actually utilized about $350,000 out of reserves to lower the levy increase to this rate, and I would really hope that with the services that our residents have requested that they will be very agreeable to that number,” added McNeil.
McNeil points out the increase of $64.50 a year breaks down to $5 a month or $0.18 a day.
