$60K worth of fentanyl seized from Strathroy home

A 70-year-old woman is facing drug trafficking charges after police found $60,000 worth of fentanyl inside a Strathroy home.

Officers with the Strathroy-Caradoc police criminal investigations division , the street crime unit, and the uniform division raided a home in the north-end of the city on Thursday. Inside, police seized approximately 7 ounces of fentanyl and $1,160 in cash.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $60,000, police said on Friday.

A Strathroy woman, 70, has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

Fentanyl is a dangerous opioid that is roughly 100 times more potent than morphine, according to health officials.
