‘Armed and dangerous’ London gunfire suspect arrested

A man wanted in connection with gunfire in southeast London earlier this week has been arrested east of the city.

Officers with the London police emergency response and investigative response units took Brandon Kyle Ford into custody in Dorchester Thursday night. Earlier in the day, police has announced they had obtained an arrest warrant for the 30-year-old Londoner on 10 charges including discharging a firearm with intent to wound, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm, and failure to comply with release order.

The charges stem from gunfire that rang out in the area of Meadowgate Boulevard and Commissioners Road East around 4:50 a.m. Wednesday. Nobody was injured and no property damage was found, police said at the time.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and a loaded handgun with an over-capacity magazine was seized. Austin Bryce Withers was later charged with seven offences including unlawfully possessing a prohibited firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a loaded regulated firearm.

Prior to Ford’s arrest, police appealed to the public for information about his whereabouts releasing both his picture and one of the vehicle he may have been driving. The public was advised not to approach Ford as he was considered armed and dangerous.

Ford and Withers were both scheduled to appear in London court on Friday.

A third suspect in the case is still being sought, police said. That individual is described as a White man, approximately 40-years-old with a medium build, and a bald or shaved head. He was wearing a black sweater.

Anyone with information about the gunfire or the identity of the third suspect is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
