Second suspect identified, one outstanding after gunfire in east London

London police have released more details about the investigation into gunshots that were heard on Wednesday morning.

Just before 5 a.m., police were called to the area of Meadowgate Boulevard and Commissioners Road East for reports of gunfire. After officers arrived at the scene, a man was arrested and a loaded firearm was seized, according to police.

Police confirmed Thursday that the firearm was a prohibited semi-automatic handgun and the serial number had been tampered with. Along with the weapon, an over-capacity magazine and 11 rounds of ammunition were discovered.

The person arrested at the scene of the incident was a 29-year-old London man. He is facing a number of charges including unlawful possession and careless storage of a gun.

Austin Bryce Withers will appear in court on Friday in relation to the charges.

Two other people were reportedly involved in this incident and are being sought by police. A physical description was initially provided for each suspect, but now police have shared the identity of one of the accused.

Brandon Kyle Ford, 30, is being charged by way of warrant with 10 offences including discharging a firearm, careless storage, possessing a firearm while prohibited, as well as breaching release orders.

London police shared a photograph of Ford and the suspect vehicle – a 2018 four-door blue Hyundai.

“Do not approach the vehicle or suspect as Brandon Ford should be considered armed and dangerous,” police said. “Call 9-1-1 immediately if [he is] seen.”

A third suspect is still at large. Police have not confirmed the identity of the person, but say it is white man with a medium build, bald or shaved head, approximately 40 years of age, and was wearing a black sweater.
