Helicopter spotted near Kincardine may be searching for downed object wreckage

A Canadian Coast Guard helicopter spotted over Lake Huron near Kincardine on Tuesday afternoon may be part of the effort to retrieve wreckage from an object downed by a fighter jet on Sunday.

According to witnesses on the ground, a helicopter has been observed flying close to, and then away, from the Lake Huron shoreline, starting near Sauble Beach and heading south to Kincardine.

According to Flightradar24.com, a Canadian Coast Guard Bell 429 GlobalRanger Helicopter was in the area, operating at approximately 1,200 feet.

The object shot down over Lake Huron on Sunday was the fourth object detected in North American airspace this month.

Earlier Tuesday, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff and Huron-Bruce MP Alex Ruff issued a joint statement with other MPs saying that they have been briefed by the federal government and Canadian Armed Forces, and that crews are working actively to recover and investigate the objects.
