Multiple charges laid following commercial vehicle blitz

A swath of charges were laid recently during a commercial vehicle blitz aimed at overweight vehicles.

The Grey-Bruce OPP held a safety blitz on January 23 after numerous complaints locally of overweight and unsafe commercial motor vehicles. During the safety blitz, with help from the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team, 34 charges were laid and 10 warnings were issued.

13 commercial motor vehicle inspections also took place resulting in 4 commercial motor vehicles being put out of service due to major defects.

The Grey Bruce OPP would also like to share one occurrence of note, in which a loaded commercial motor vehicle was operating while being 40,000 kg overweight.
