St. Thomas high school student charged with trying to disarm cop

A St. Thomas high school student is accused of trying to disarm a police officer during an arrest.

St. Thomas police were called to the unidentified school in the city on Tuesday to deal with a student who was “causing problems” and refusing to leave the property.

While community foot patrol officers were taking the teen into custody, he allegedly resisted and tried to grab one of their guns.

The student, who cannot be identified because of his age, has been charged with disarming a police officer, resisting arrest, and failing to leave when directed. He has since been released from custody with a future court date.
