Building boom in Owen Sound

The City of Owen Sound was an attractive place for new construction in 2022.

The first 11 months of 2022 saw over $42 million worth of new construction, compared to $34 million in the same period in 2021.

In November, 21 building permits were issued, worth over $506,000

Some of the highlights of November’s work included the installation of a new CT scanner at Grey Bruce Regional Health Services, and full occupancy granted to Southbridge Long-Term-Care.

Interior work is underway on a 79 unit residential construction project on 28th Street West. it is expected to be ready for new residents sometime this year.

Other residential projects in the works in the city include SkyDev’s 712-unit apartment development proposed for the former RCA property at East Bayshore Road , as well as a mixed use development near Georgian College which will add  830 new units.
