Strong winds and freezing rain batter Midwestern Ontario

The strong winds are bringing down power lines across the region this morning.

Hydro One is only now reporting an outage south of Wingham affecting just under 200 customers but callers are saying parts of the town have been without power since 3 a.m.

There are smaller outages near Bluevale, Belmore, Kintail, and Meaford. You can expect more outages as the storm continues to batter the region throughout the day.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning, predicting about 2 millimetres of accretion and wind gusts to 70 kilometres per hour.

The storm has forced the cancellation of all buses in Huron and Perth and numerous other bus cancellations.
