PM Trudeau and Premier Ford in Ingersoll Monday

According to a media release from the Ontario government, Premier Doug Ford will be in Ingersoll on Monday morning to make an announcement along with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Vic Fedeli, minister of economic development, job creation and trade.

Remarks will begin at 12:15 p.m. and will be live-streamed on Ford’s YouTube channel. The exact location of the event was not immediately available.

No other details about the announcement have been shared at this time. However, earlier this year, both the premier and PM voiced their support for General Motor’s production of electric vans at their CAMI assembly plant in Ingersoll. Set to be the first full-scale electric vehicle production facility in Canada, the federal and provincial government invested $259 million each to re-vamp the Ingersoll location. A portion of the funds were also put towards General Motor’s Oshawa facility.

This marks Trudeau’s second stop in Oxford County in less than a week. Last Thursday, he visited Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry to announce the Canada Dental Benefit.
