There is a heavy police presence in Vanastra as police negotiate with a barricaded person.

In a statement released last night, Huron OPP say they were called to a townhouse on St. Charles Place at around 7:25 p.m. for a disturbance.

Members of the West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, West Region Emergency Response Team, K-9, and West Region Mobile Support Unit are currently on the scene.

The statement says there is no risk to public safety but Huron OPP are asking the public to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.

Police say they will provide more information when it becomes available.
