Wolves drop opener

Seaforth Centenaries came to Ripley last Saturday night and won, 4-1. Seaforth won the league last year and are probably the favorite to win again, but Ripley could be right there with them.
Ripley heads to Petrolia this Friday for their first road game.
The Kincardine Bulldogs split a pair of games last weekend.
Friday night in Wingham, defenseman Austin Waite scored in overtime to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 win. Brennan Long and Gavin Downs, with less than three minutes left in the third period, scored the winning goal for the Bulldogs. Carter Servais, Cooper Schneider, Nolan MacKinnon and Liam Colhoun all added assists.
Saturday afternoon at home, the Bulldogs outshot Mitchell, 46-24, but lost 6-3 with a couple of empty-net goals.
Sevais scored two for the Bulldogs with 16-year-old Caelab Bowler scoring his first goal of the season. Steven Grant had two assists, with singles going to Gavin Gibbons, Gavin Downs and Kieran Moore.
This weekend, the Bulldogs have one road game, facing the undefeated Mount Forest Patriots on Saturday night.
At the start of the year, I thought Hanover had the best team on paper in the Pollock Division. However, Mitchell and Mount Forest look to be right there with Hanover, battling it out for first place.
This weekend brings the Archie MacMillan midget tournament in Tiverton and Kincardine. There are eight teams competing, starting Friday at 1 p.m. in Tiverton.All the games on Friday are in Tiverton. Kincardine plays South Kent at 4:30 on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday all the games move to Kincardine. The Miller Insurance Midgets play South Huron at 12:30 and Wallaceburg at 4:00 p.m. The top four teams play in the semis and finals on Sunday. It should be some great hockey!
