Norfolk OPP seize $4M in illegal cannabis plants

Provincial police in Norfolk County have arrested three people after a search warrant turned up cannabis plants said to be worth millions of dollars.

On Wednesday, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Street Crime Units in Haldimand, Norfolk, Brant and Oxford counties, along with Emergency Response Team members in Norfolk County executed a warrant at a property on Highway 24 in Townsend Township.

During the search, investigators reportedly seized $4-million worth of illegal cannabis plants. Three people were taken into custody without incident.

“Our Community Street Crimes Unit has been very effective with proactive drug investigations. This is yet another example that highlights how the police and Norfolk County By-Law Enforcement continue to work with members of the community in partnership to resolve crime,” said Norfolk OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Jodi Kays.

Police have not disclosed what charges have been laid against the trio and the investigation is ongoing.
