Traffic stop yields seizure of drugs and results in charges

A pair of people are facing charges following a traffic stop in Wingham.

Huron County OPP say that an officer stopped a vehicle on Victoria Street in Wingham on the evening of October 2. The officer discovered the driver’s license was suspended, and the driver was placed under arrest and a search of the vehicle was done. Officers found drug paraphernalia, trafficking materials, suspected anabolic steroids and currency. A further search revealed the passenger in the vehicle to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

The 41-year-old driver from Durham and the 36-year-old passenger from Mildmay both charged with drug trafficking offences. Both of the accused were released from custody and both have a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich for November to answer to the charges.
