Fallen firefighters honoured during the Ontario Fire Fighters Memorial

One-hundred-thirty-four names were added to the Memorial Wall at the Ontario Fire Fighters Memorial Sunday.

Hundreds of family, friends, and fellow fire fighters gathered to honour the memories of the fallen.

Premier Doug Ford thanked them for their service.

“They are all heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of duty and service to their community,” said Ford. “And while they are no longer with us, their honour and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

Ford also expressed gratitude to those still serving.

“Let me thank you all from the bottom of my heart,” Ford said. “We are forever grateful of your service. And I have to tell you it’s so nice to see so many men and women firefighters when you march by from every jurisdiction of this great province representing our heroes.”

In addition to the 36 names added for this year, there were 98 also added for 2020 and 2021. The fallen include those who lost their lives from occupational disease.
