Londoner charged in August hit-and-run that injured two cyclists

Just over a month after two cyclists were hurt when a pickup truck allegedly swerved into them and kept going, a 67-year-old London man has been charged.

Police had been searching for the black pickup truck involved in the collision on White Oak Road near Harry White Drive since August 14. Four members of the London Cycling Club were out for a morning ride on the scenic road when the truck veered into them. The two lead cyclists were knocked off their bikes. They had to be taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver did not stop, London police said.

A day after the incident, police released a detailed description and picture of a suspect vehicle.

Since then, officers with the police traffic unit identified a suspect and on Friday charges were announced.

A 67-year-old man from London has been charged with four offences including dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in London court on October 31.
