Three hurt in apartment fire in southeast London

Three people have been taken to hospital after a fire broke out at an apartment building in southeast London.

Firefighters were called to the three-storey walk-up at 88 King Edward Ave., northeast of Adelaide Street and Thompson Road just after 10 p.m. Monday.

The building was evacuated and London Transit buses brought in to shelter displaced tenants while fire crews worked to contain the blaze.

The extent of the injuries of the three people sent to hospital are not known. A damage estimate has also not been released.

A fire inspector has been called in to determine the cause of the blaze.
